Course Overview
This course is a complete, federally compliant online training program for U.S. employees whose jobs touch the highway transportation of hazardous materials — fuels, gases, acids, batteries, explosives, lithium-ion devices, hazardous waste, and the thousands of other materials regulated under the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).
The course delivers the four training categories required by 49 CFR §172.704(a)(1) through (a)(4) — General Awareness / Familiarization, Function-Specific, Safety, and Security Awareness — as a single integrated bundle. Each module is independently certified and tested, so a learner who completes the full bundle satisfies the core hazmat training requirement for nearly every hazmat employee role in highway transportation.

A narrow carve-out under 49 CFR §172.704(e)(1), as expanded by HM-265, excepts employees whose only HMR function is to manufacture, repair, modify, recondition, or test packagings from the Safety (Module 3) and Security Awareness (Module 4) requirements.
